Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires a minimum of five additional years of hospital-based surgical, medical and anaesthesia training after graduation from dentistry. Our doctors manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Our surgeons practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental extractions, the removal of difficult or impacted teeth (wisdom teeth), the placement of dental implants, the treatment of dental and skeletal deformities (orthognathic surgery), the surgical management of temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), the treatment of cleft lip and cleft palate conditions, facial and jaw reconstruction procedures and care for other oral diseases (pathology) and anaesthetic concerns of the oral and maxillofacial region and related structures.

Our Surgeons

The oral and maxillofacial surgeons at Fountainview Oral Facial and Implant Surgery are a professional group of Fellowship qualified, certified specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. David J. Psutka, Dr. Peter Lamantia, Dr. Thomas Kertesz, Dr. Peter Ta, Dr. Balraj Kang, and Dr. Hagen Klieb have current and advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of oral and maxillofacial problems from the simple to the complex.

Registered, non-hospital, surgical facility

Our out-patient surgical facility is licensed and certified by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. Our facility is equipped with modern, specialized equipment for state of the art out-patient surgery and anaesthesia. Our surgical anaesthesia suites are inspected and approved by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. Patients undergoing surgical procedures in our suites are fully monitored with state of the art equipment. Our surgeons are fully qualified and licensed to administer deep intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia. Many of our procedures are performed under full general anaesthesia, administered by medical anaesthesia specialists. Our surgical team includes registered nurses with advanced training in surgery and anaesthesia. All doctors and registered nurses on our team maintain current certification in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support.

Medical Anaesthesiologists

Fountainview Oral Facial and Implant Surgery is supported by a group of full time, Fellowship trained, medical anaesthesiologists. Our medical anaesthesiologists have completed the training required for medical practice and then specialty training in the specialty of anaesthesia, including regional blocks, sedation and general anaesthesia.
