Meet Dr. David J. Psutka
Dr. David Psutka graduated with honors from the faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto in 1979. He completed his Specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesia at the University of Toronto and Toronto Hospital in 1983.
Dr. Psutka is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. Psutka has Fellowships in the American College of Dentistry, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
He founded Fountain View Oral, Facial and Implant Surgery in 1985 and has maintained a full scope specialty practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a focus on implant, orthognathic and TMJ surgery since then.
Dr. Psutka is senior staff oral and maxillofacial surgeon and co-founder of the Mount Sinai Hospital Center for Excellence in TMJ Reconstructive Surgery. Patients are seen from across Canada for complex TMJ and maxillofacial surgery. He is also attending surgeon at the University of Toronto and teaching staff at the University of Toronto Residency Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesia. He has taught post graduate residents in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1995.
Dr. Psutka is active attending staff also at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga which includes Mississauga Hospital, Credit Valley Hospital and Queensway Hospital.
Dr. Psutka has over 100 publications and lectures and is the coauthor of the implant surgical chapter in the text book “Synergies in Implant Osseointegration”, published in 2008 and edited by Dr. George Zarb.
Dr. Psutka has lectured and demonstrated advanced TMJ reconstructive and arthroscopic surgery extensively across North America and Europe.
He is an examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. Psutka is past president of the Ontario Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and the Halton Peel Dental Association.
He has helped enact regulatory changes that modernized the legal scope of practice for oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Ontario.
He represents Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and their patients through his work with the Ontario Dental Association and the Ontario Ministry of Health.
Dr. Psutka has also been a consultant to the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario in forming Guidelines for the practice of Implant Dentistry in Ontario and the use of Cone Beam CT scanners in dental practices.
Dr. Psutka received the Ontario Dental Association Service Award in 2005.
